Chapter Eleven

Olivia

I KNOW I SHOULD TELL Lincoln who I am right now but I can't bring myself to ruin this perfect night we’re having. I want to spend a little more time in my picture-perfect world. I don’t want to pop this bubble of happiness that’s been surrounding me since Lincoln walked back into my life. I can't lose him again. I'm not quite sure I’d be able to handle that loss again.

My phone buzzes in my pocket and I pull it out to see who’s texting me.

Emerson: The university wants photos done of the baseball team before the season starts. Are you up for the challenge or should I ask someone else to do it?

I let out a squeal of delight and Lincoln looks over at me smiling.

“What’s got you so happy?”

“Emerson, the photographer I'm working with, wants me to do photos of the baseball team!”

“That’s awesome, baby.” He says with a big smile. He’s really happy for me, I swear I fall a little harder for him. Who am I kidding, I’m head over heels in love with Lincoln and always have been.

Me: I'm definitely up for the challenge. Am I just doing normal portraits or more like action shots?

Emerson: Give me both and we can decide what we like better later on.

Me: Awesome! I’ll get started as soon as I can. Who do I need to contact about scheduling the photo sessions?

Emerson: I was told you should contact the captain of the team; he’ll handle everything.

“Hey, Linc?”

“Yeah, Babe.”

“Who’s the captain of the baseball team?” I ask, embarrassed I don’t already know the answer to that question. I mean I live with one of the players and I'm dating another one. I should know this stuff! I glance over at Lincoln, finding a cocky smirk on his face.

“You really don’t know?” He asks playfully and I roll my eyes at him.

“Nope.” I say, popping the P.

“You’re looking at him.” He starts laughing when I gape at him.

“Seriously? You’re the captain?”

“Yup.”

“I'm dating the captain of the baseball team?” He nods. “How did I not know this?” I ask, a little annoyed I didn’t know this about my own boyfriend. He smirks at me and laughs.

“Are you mad about this?”

“I'm a little mad at myself for not knowing.” I say on a sigh, crossing my arms over my chest. We slow to a stop in front of my house and Lincoln slides over on the bench seat so he’s next to me.

“Baby, you told me you hated baseball because of that ass who broke your heart. I decided to never talk about baseball unless you brought it up. I didn’t want to upset you and I didn’t think it mattered.”

“You don’t have to hide part of your life to keep me from getting upset. I'm over that guy, you did that. You took away all the hurt. I want to know about baseball, it’s a big part of your life.”

“It’s a big part right now, but after this year it won’t be.
